The Department of Neurosurgery at Koyili Hospital headed by Dr.S.C Bantwal (Former Professor and Head, FMCI Hospital and Medical College, Mangalore)is the busiest in North Kerala, logging over two hundred surgeries a year. Advanced surgeries for major tumours, Trans-nasal surgeries, Transoral, endoscopic, Keyhole Surgeries , Microsurgery for brain and spine and Surgery for Head Injuries are some of the procedures done here

It is now well know to have best results and very prompt attention and follow up. At the same time the charges are very reasonable, especially for the poor income group patients. Patients come for Neurosurgical care from neighboring Karnataka, a thing unheard of in the past. |

About Dr. S.C.Bantwal
Prof S.C Bantwal MS (Gen), M.Ch PGIMER, FICS (USA) was the former Head of Neurosurgery and Professor at Fr. Mullers Hospital and Medical College, Mangalore.
A University Gold medalist from Kasturba Medical College ,Mangalore and was the first Karnataka candidate to get selected at Prestigious PGIMER Chandigarh.He had further training at University of Milan. Italy. He has had specialized training in Keyhole and Endoscopic Neurosurgery at
Johann- Gutenberg University, Frankfurt Germany and is a visiting consultant at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and University Hospital at Seoul.He has over twenty seven medical publications to his credit and has devised three new Neurosurgical techniques. He has also recently got a fellowship in Neurovascular surgery at Stanford USA.
